Interview With Veronika Esslinger

Josh Mitchell of Wickid Pissa Publicity introduced Veronika Esslinger to us as his "actress-author client."

La Libertad:  Where were you born?

Veronika:  I was born in Novosibirsk, in Russia. The city lies on the banks of the Ob River, in the West Siberian Plain.

La Libertad:  What accomplishment are you  most proud of?

Veronika:  I am very proud that I never gave up on believing in my dreams and goals, no matter how hard the road was. Of course, I am very proud of my published book, which I have published in German and English.

I moved to Germany when I was five years old, and I grew up there, so it made sense to write the book in German, and translate it into English, but the Russian translation can still easily follow.

La Libertad:  What is the film world like, in Germany?

Veronika:  The film world in Germany is fascinating, especially in Berlin. I was lucky enough to be on sets with major personalities from whom I learned a lot for my own future career as an actress. It was motivating and tough at the same time. But in the end, I "pulled out" the positive and great energy that I was able to experience on set.

La Libertad:  What would you like to tell our readers about how your latest book, The Script of Your Life?

Veronika:  As the title suggests, the book is about which role, or a script you create for your life, and whether you live according to it and pursue your goals and dreams. It is a book that shows that there are certain obstacles on the way to success, and that not everything seems as it initially is. It is about making smart decisions, overcoming the inner pain, and going your own way despite all the hurdles in life, and holding onto your dreams. The book also tells a love story, which does not have a happy ending because another woman comes into play. As the subtitle Dangerous Liaisons reveals, the story takes place in three different time intervals and cities. It starts in Paris, and continues in Los Angeles, with a dream to become a successful actress.

La Libertad:  What inspires you?

Veronika:  There are so many things that inspire me! Mostly, it comes out of a spontaneous situation and whim. I think you can`t plan inspiration. There are certain places, people, and life situations that inspire me. Sometimes it is very simple things, like a beautiful painting that tells a story, expressive art, or small things in everyday life that I come across.

La Libertad:  What is the hardest part of being an actress?

Veronika:  The hardest part of being an actress is that you never know what`s coming tomorrow. You must work hard on yourself and your mindset every day and never give up striving for greater things.

La Libertad:  What was one of the most significant things you learned at the New York Film Academy?

Veronika:  I learned to be more secure in front of the camera and I met a lot of talented people who helped me evolve as an on-screen talent.

La Libertad:  What are your overall career goals?

Veronika:  My career goals are to play strong and dramatic characters and to showcase interesting stories of interesting personalities and to tackle many future projects worldwide. To write more books, tell inspiring stories, and to help people with their own way of life. I am also a passionate dancer and I would love to continue to improve and evolve as a performer.

La Libertad:  Tell us about your upcoming projects?

Veronika:  I have three exciting new projects in the pipeline: a genre fantasy film, a crime-based TV Series, and a dramatic TV Series.

La Libertad:  What links would you like to share?

Veronika:  I recently started a YouTube channel with a few short sequences from my past projects. In addition to expanding my followings on my Facebook and Instagram, I would be happy to have an expanded readership worldwide to increase my book sales and adapt into a feature film one day:

youtube.com/channel/UCzlHnbJInd8cFAaGNCs1xdQ

amazon.com/Veronika-Esslinger/e/B07Y8PHTY9

www.instagram.com/veronika_esslinger

www.facebook.com/veronika.esslinger

La Libertad:  What else if anything, would you like to tell our readers?

Veronika:  No matter how hard the road is, in the end, it`s worth it. Every beginning is difficult, and you must believe in yourself so strongly, that the words of others don`t hit you. It`s not easy, but anything is possible. It all starts with a thought, a vision, and hard work until it becomes a reality.

Interview With LEX

LEX
LEX
Josh Mitchell of Wickid Pissa Publicity introduced us to LEX as a "singer, lyricist, composer, and pianist."

He tells us that her first single, "Again in Love," is now available on all digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon Music, and Spotify.
She is currently in L.A., but she grew up in New York, where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Vocal Performance at the New York State University at Buffalo.

"Growing up, LEX was immersed in a musical family; she played piano, and wrote songs with her father and brother. It was this early influence that led her to create her own material, blending the sounds of her youth with her...vocals to create a unique style. As former president of her
a capella troupe, she is also trained in classical, operative, vocal performance."

LEX tells us that "It took a lot of hard work and dedication from within [herself], as well as support from all the people around [her] to fully realize who [she wants] to be, and what [she has] to show the world.  This E.P. [Extended Play record, "Again in Love"] is a reflection of the fire and passion my collaborators and I plan to put forth into our creations."

Again in Love
Again in Love by LEX
We lookforward to the release of her future single, "LA Baby."
La Libertad:  Where were you born?

LEX:  I was born in New York, and raised in Westchester County.

La Libertad:  Where do you currently reside?

LEX:  I just moved to Los Angeles about five months ago. I live around Silverlake.

La Libertad: What does "LEX" stand for?

LEX:   My name is "Alexa Feiner."  "Lex" and "Lexi" have always been nicknames since I was little.

La Libertad:  What would you like to tell our readers about your new single?

LEX:  My new single is called "Again in Love," and it features artist/rapper J.G. I chose to release this as my debut single because it really captures my style of R and B [Rhythm and Blues]. The song is an ode to every time you fall in love, or every time you "think" you fall in love, and I'm always falling in love. And every time it's like, "Wow, I fell for this... again, and again." But I secretly love it, so I keep doing it. Kind of like an addiction...

La Libertad:  What does "J.G." stand for?

LEX:  It is his name, "Joshua Geiger."

La Libertad:  What do you love most about music?

LEX:  I'm never not listening to music.  There's always a song in my head. Music is the window to my soul, and it can be so powerful!  It has a way of hitting the heart so deeply!  And it can give me that type of cathartic release if I'm feeling sad, or stressed, or even happy. And I think that that's unique to everyone. And it's important that I, myself, and every artist, thinks about the way their music touches the lives of his [or] her listeners, to make them feel some type of way.

La Libertad:  What inspires you to write songs?

LEX:  Definitely my personal life. I try not to be too sad when it comes to my writing.  Sadness can come quite easily to me, and while there's a time and place for those kinds of songs, I like to take all my feelings and channel them into songs that are relatable to my audience.  I write a lot about love too, because who doesn't love love, "ya know?"  And I'm always looking for love, usually in the wrong places.

La Libertad:  What is the hardest part about the industry?

LEX:  I think it's hard to make a real connection with people in the industry. Everything seems kind of face value, and I think that's because there's that underlying feeling of competition, since everyone's trying to do the same thing.  It's also hard to try and stand out from everyone else who wants to do the exact same thing as you. "Ya know?"  It's like, "What makes you different, or what sets you apart from the rest of these artists who are trying to be singers and songwriters?"

La Libertad:  How many tracks will be on your upcoming E.P.?

LEX:  There's going to be around five or six tracks on my upcoming E.P., "Pinky." The E.P. is called "Pinky" because that's what my dad used to call me.  When he passed away three years ago, I knew I would dedicate this E.P. to him.

La Libertad:  Our condolences...

What are your overall career goals?

LEX:  To never stop making music. To always be working harder than I did the day before, and to challenge myself to think outside the box when it comes to my songwriting and my music. Winning a Grammy would be cool, too!

La Libertad:  What links would you like to share?

LEX:

Instagram: www.instagram.com/lexofficialmusic

Spotify

Facebook: www.facebook.com/LEXOFFICIALMUSIC

La Libertad:  What else, if anything, would you like to tell our readers?

LEX:  I hope that they're ready to be seeing a lot more of me! And to keep an eye out for my next single release in the next few months...!

Interview With Madeline Rosene

Singer, writer, musician, comedienne, Madeline Rosene introduced herself to us by telling us that she is "sorry this took [her] so long!" and that she "[LOVES] these questions." She also "[hopes that her] answers aren't too ridiculous," and she would be "happy to change whatever!"  Please, don't change for us!

La Libertad:  Where were you born?

Madeline:  I was born in Danbury, Connecticut. My parents moved back to Cleveland, Ohio shortly after I was born. When I was four years old, they rented an apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and we began traveling back and fourth between New York City and Cleveland.

La Libertad:  Where do you currently reside?

Madeline:  I currently live in Los Angeles, and I'm loving it. Best weather, best friends... Everybody hustling... Love the energy.

La Libertad:  What made you want to become a singer?

Madeline:  My mom is a jazz vocalist. I think very young girls often photograph off of their mother. I just remember thinking what she did was cooler than anything my friends' parents did. As a third grader, I cared a lot about being "cool" because it was the first time I had ever been to school after being homeschooled, and I was basically the antithesis of cool.

Anyway, my mom was dope, and I knew that. I wanted to be like her. I remember drawing a picture of her -  literally a circle for her head, dots for eyes, a circle for her mouth with little musical notes coming out of it and spirals on her head for her "horrendous perm" at the time (her words).

La Libertad:  What do you love most about writing music?

Madeline:  Writing music is kind of like a solution for me. I am very solution-oriented. It's a solution for negative or overwhelming emotions, difficult experiences, et cetera. It basically allows me to take a situation that might not be all that great and potentially turn it into something awesome. When that happens, it's such a satisfying feeling, and actually helps me move on from that experience much more quickly.

La Libertad:  What talents and hobbies do you have?

Madeline:  Besides writing music, I snowboard; I'm very into fashion and styling, thumb wrestling on a semi-professional level... One of these is not true! You pick!

La Libertad:  What inspires you?

Madeline:  I am mostly inspired by human interaction. Shitty people inspire me. Actually I don't really think there are completely bad people. I think there are terribly misinformed people, people who make bad decisions, and people who don't listen to my music. Those things can all be forgiven except for the not listening to my music one.

La Libertad:  What is the hardest part about living in Hollywood?

Madeline:  Probably living in NORTH Hollywood... That's only funny to people who live in L.A.

Honestly, I'm not sure. It seems relatively easy to me compared to living other places. I probably wouldn't last very long in Somalia.

I suppose there are quite a few people here, naturally, who are really only interested in helping themselves. That's a big part of living in an area that has such a large concentration of people working in entertainment. So many people want to be stars, not because they want to entertain or send a message, but because they just want to be? Instagram and the Kardashians have me so confused over what entertainment and talent actually are.

La Libertad:  You are also an actress. Tell us about your role on the new series "PUB.LIE.SIZE."

Madeline:  A friend of mine was casting a project he wrote and I asked if he needed an obnoxious singer/songwriter character. He was like, "Yep," and I was like, "I knew it..." So I'm basically playing myself and supporting Meg Dick who is an amazing actress and super funny. I love acting and hanging out with her. We have mad chemistry #letsrunawayandbelesbians.

La Libertad:  What are the details of your upcoming tour?

Madeline:  It's going to be throughout the U.S. We were planning for April but might be a little later because I just got a new agent (same agency though!) and we might make some updates. Whole band is going. Going to [be] amazing. It's my first tour and I've waited a long time to do this!

La Libertad:  Can we expect a new album from you this year?

Madeline:  Definitely trying to put out an album in 2019.  Want to call it Raised on Porn.

La Libertad:  What other projects are you currently working on?

Madeline:  Trying to get my dog to stop, drop, and roll. We've got stop and drop down. Still working on the roll...  There was a fire in my building the other day #NorthHollywoodLife
For real, follow my dog, @CroutonDog He's not like other Croutons.

La Libertad:  What upcoming events, if any, do you intend to participate in?

Madeline:  I am playing at the Silverlake Lounge on November 2nd at 11:00 p.m., and Los Globos on November 14th.

La Libertad:  What links would you like to share?

Madeline:

Interview: Director Josh Mitchell Pays Us a "Hard Visit"

Josh Mitchell
Hard Visit, Josh Mitchell, Director
By the time Josh Mitchell of Wickid Pissa Publicity first granted us an interview in December, 2013, he had already proven to be perhaps our greatest source of interviews, referring more interviewees to us than anyone else.

At that time, Josh had a mere half dozen Director credits on his filmography:  "Siphoned"; Helen Keller Had a Pitbull; "The Corruption of Kidiya Kitts"; "The Sacred Incense of the Drinking Man"; "Out For Buckner"; and "Pick N Roll."  He has more than tripled his filmography since then.

He recently wrote, directed, and starred in Hard Visit, a feature film about a down-on-his-luck actor who is rescued from obscurity by his wealthy, sports bookie brother, but is forced to use his best performance skills to escape the clutches of a female con artist.  You can watch the official trailer at:

www.vimeo.com/picknroll/hardvisittrailer

In addition to his prolific film-making career, Mitchell’s public relations company, Wickid Pissa Publicity, has become one of the most in-demand firms in the entertainment industry, offering services ranging from marketing, branding, event production, and social media management.

Fortunately for us, Josh took time out of his busy schedule to give us "the 411" on the inspiration for his work, and what lies ahead of him in the last half of 2017.

La Libertad:  What was the impetus for creating Hard Visit?

Josh:  Hard Visit was born at last year's Sundance Film Festival. I met a few ambitious actors, and we discussed the importance of creating and controlling your own content.  We all threw our resources  together... work-shopped some scenes, and carved out some characters, and the script began to take shape.

During production and a few pick-up days after, we molded and caressed the nuts and bolts of the story so it all made sense in the end.

La Libertad:  Did you use a drone to make this film?

Josh:  We bought a new drone and the latest GoPro 4K camera for this production because we knew we wanted to bring the viewer into the sprawling world of where these characters dwell.  The opening credits focus and foreshadow the dusty desert and windmills of Palm Springs, and we outline the challenges of an actor's life by showcasing Hollywood Boulevard, casting call auditions, and the iconic landscapes of Los Angeles.

La Libertad:  This film seems to glamorize gambling.  Are you an avid bettor in real life?

Josh:  No!  Not at all!  I'm a huge sports fans, though, and some of my family and friends are passionate gamblers, so I was able to pull from real life experiences.  The biggest element that fascinated me... which I tried to utilize in the conflict of the film, is the idea of old technology versus new technology.  When I was growing up, if you wanted to place a bet, you simply called a local bookie.  In today's world, the bulk of it all is computer-based, so skilled techies can place bets 24-7 without ever having to speak with anyone.

La Libertad:  What do you hope audiences get out of watching Hard Visit?

Josh:  The number one goal of all of my films is to entertain. This is a rock-and-roll, high adrenaline piece that has sexy girls, guns, expensive cars, a thrashing soundtrack, a cameo from a decorated character actor, and a big finale that will leave you thirsty for more!

La Libertad:  Who are your biggest creative inspirations?

Josh:  The iconoclasts who have influenced me in no particular order are Henry Miller, Keith Haring, Eminem, Quentin Tarantino, and Steven Soderbergh.  I like artists who lift up the random rocks of the world, and unveil a universe we would have never known existed if it hadn’t been for their inventiveness.

La Libertad:  What initially convinced you to move from Boston to Los Angeles?

Josh:  I left Boston and moved to L.A. because I knew you had to be in the belly of the beast to truly maximize your chances of success in the film and T.V. world.  There is a reason why all the studios are in Hollywood, and why all the movie stars live here:  Because this is where the magic happens.

La Libertad:  Was it difficult adjusting to life on the West Coast?

Josh:  I recently celebrated my three-year anniversary on the West Coast, and the things I miss most are my family, friends, lobster, and Fenway Park.  You can watch my feature film Helen Keller Had A Pit Bull to truly learn about my transition and some of the shady characters I have had to endure in the process.

La Libertad:  What is the most rewarding aspect of your work with Wickid Pissa Publicity?

Josh:  The thing I love best about Wickid Pissa Publicity is the diversity of talent and companies I get to work with on a daily basis.  I specialize in elevating buzz, branding, and exposure for unique brands, so most days I am working with a female actress, a TV producer, a new energy drink, a T-shirt line, a Kickstarter campaign – it runs the gamut and keeps everything fresh and exciting for me.  I also get to attend a surplus of red carpet events and networking parties, which usually have delicious food and open bars.

La Libertad:  What are you working on next?

Josh:  I’m shooting an inventive and endearing kids' movie I wrote, called Harry Head, next month, and I just finished the script for an action-zombie piece called Dirty Water.

After I execute these two thrilling projects, I hope to direct and star in a provocative new T.V. series called "NoHo District," which I plan to pitch to Netflix and premium cable channels.

La Libertad:  What links would you like to share with our readers?

Josh:  You can watch all of my films on Vimeo Pro, at:

Interview With Cuddy D

Cuddy D
Cuddy D
Steve Perri introduced us to himself as "Cuddy D," after his publicist, Josh Mitchell, from Wickid Pissa Publicity, referred him to us.

La Libertad:  Where were you born?

Cuddy:  Long Branch, New Jersey.

La Libertad:  Where do you currently live?

Cuddy:  Middletown, New Jersey.

La Libertad:  What do you love most about "The Cuddy D Show"?

Cuddy: What I love most about The Cuddy D Show is our unique perspective on the topics we discuss, I never know what to expect from my co-hosts.

La Libertad: What would you like to tell our readers about your co-hosts?

Cuddy: My brother Jim "J-Dawg" - the wit and genius of J-Dawg in the house. The master of hilarious one line quips, love and peace... Vicki Lee - she might be the quietest one on the panel, but loves to throw in some witty zingers, showing us her unique perspective on the topics. She packs a real punch. Courtney - singer/songwriter, she also has years of public speaking
under her belt, on the topic of sexual assault. Courtney believes most anything can be overcome by humor!

La Libertad: What inspired you to create your unique format?

Cuddy: As a fan of television talk shows, I had grown tired of the same old format: one host monologue, one perspective. This is why I created a show that offers multiple points of view, where our audience can perhaps relate to us better than other shows, where we say the things that people at home are thinking in their minds, but don't say; we become their voice.

La Libertad: What is the hardest part of coordinating each episode?

Cuddy: Getting everyone onboard for the same date and time in filming new shows, considering we all have our own private lives.

La Libertad: Where would you like the show to be in five years?

Cuddy: Airing on a major television network.

La Libertad: What has been the most memorable moment on your show?

Cuddy: Getting kicked off Public Access television for three weeks for saying the word "ass" on one of our episodes. And then, having to kiss ass in getting the show back on the network.

La Libertad: What are your career goals?

Cuddy: My overall career goals are to be the best host/producer I can be where I continue to hone my skills and evolve with the times so our audience continues to watch and love "The Cuddy D Show."

La Libertad: When can fans expect your latest edition?

Cuddy: Fans can expect new shows in the Fall of 2017, as we presently are promoting our show's trailer.

La Libertad: What links would you like to share?

Cuddy:

www.thecuddydshow.com

Facebook.com/thecuddydshow

YouTube.com/CuddyDShow

La Libertad: What else, if anything, would you like to tell our readers?

Cuddy: My message to your readers, of La Libertad magazine is this:

If you are interested in watching a stimulating talk show where we tell it like it is in our topics, and keep it real in an unbiased manner, while invoking humor, then tune in to "The Cuddy D Show."

Interview With Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell

Lati Grobman & Christa Campbell
Lati Grobman & Christa Campbell
Josh Mitchell of Wickid Pissa Publicity introduced us to Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell as "academy award nominated" producbers, who became "producing partners in 2011, as Campbell Grobman Films, after working as [executive] producers to help set up films such as Lionsgate’s Leatherface and Kat Coiro’s romantic comedy A Case of You, which stars Justin Long, Sienna Miller, and Brendan Fraser.

Grobman was also an executive producer on the Michael Shannon [and] Chris Evans' crime drama The Iceman, and James Coxindependent dramedy Straight A’s, both of which co-star Campbell.

"The duo 'scored' with 2013’s
Texas Chainsaw 3D, which took in $47 million worldwide," according to Josh.

“We’ve done a lot of different things,” says Campbell.  As of January 29th, 2017, the Internet Movie Database [IMDb] lists sixty-one acting credits on her filmography; counting film and television credits of all types (not just acting), it lists sixty-nine feature films, twenty-three television episodes, eighteen television series, eleven videos, five short films, five television movies, and one television special which she worked on.

She and Ms. Grobman received an Emmy nomination for their documentary Brave Miss World, which was also nominated for an Audience Choice Award at the Chicago International Film Festival.
They also served as executive producers on
She’s Funny That Way, which featured Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston, Cybill Shepherd and Quentin Tarantino as himself; Criminal, starring Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Ryan Reynolds, and Tommy Lee Jones; Stonehearst Asylum (also known as Eliza Graves), starring Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, and Michael Caine; “Red Sonja:  Queen of Plagues,” based on the graphic novels; and “Day of the Dead,” a remake of the George Romero film.

Forbes identifies them as a "Power Duo" which "Paves The Way For More Women At The Top In Entertainment."  As powerful as they may be, they were gracious enough to grant us this interview:

La Libertad:  Where were you born?

CC I was born in Oakland, California.

LG:  Moscow, Russia.

La Libertad:  Where do you currently reside?

Both Los Angeles.

La Libertad:  What would you like to tell our readers about your latest film project?

CC:  We are working on several projects. We have [The] Hitman's  Bodyguard with Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson;  Hunter Killer with
Gerard Butler, and Pablo Escobar with Javier Bardem [and Penelopee Cruz].

La Libertad:  What do you love most about producing?

CC:  I love the challenge.  The fight..

LG:  To make something out of nothing.  To go to a movie knowing
you made that happen.

La Libertad:  What inspires you to get involved with a new project?

CC:  That depends.  Each film is different. And we decide to make
them for different reasons.

LG:  Passion and money!  We love the art of making movies, but you also have to make sure that you are not only making art, [but] that you are responsible for the investors who allowed this art to be seen; therefore, we try to be conservative in... choosing projects; it's a constant balancing.

La Libertad:  What is the hardest part of producing?

CC:  Finding good projects. The good ones get funded fast.

LG:  Ninety-nine percent of content in Hollywood is poor.  Finding a good project is absolutely the hardest part.

La Libertad:  Where have you traveled in regards to film sets?

CC:  All over the world.  Bulgaria, London, Colombia, Amsterdam...  Everywhere!

LG:  I travel less now, but before, I lived in Shreveport, Louisiana for ten months, El Paso, Texas, Bulgaria, et cetera.
La Libertad:  What are your overall career goals?

CC:  To make bigger, better movies that are successful.

LG:  To get nominated for an Academy Award - wait We did that.  To win one!
La Libertad:  What film projects are you working for "the Big Screen"?

CC:  Hopefully All of them are for "the Big Screen"

LG:  Our film The Bleeder [starring Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts and Ron Perlman] is going theatrical in May this year [2017].  People will enjoy it very much.
La Libertad:  What else, if anything, would you like to tell our readers?

CC:  Cream rises to the top.  If you're talented, we will find
you.

LG:  It's more important being a good human being than being a
good film maker.

La Libertad:  What links would you like to share?

Raffaella:  I am inspired mostly by peers (young women) who are making a difference.  One woman in particular is Jessica Alba.  She is an artist/actress who has used her celebrity to achieve success both in her acting career as well as her company, Honest.  I especially admire Jessica because she has achieved
great success in spite of her disability.
