"Originally from The Netherlands," according to Mr. Mitchell, "Lauran started his professional life as a cyclist.  After several years of competitive races, he moved to [Sydney], Australia... to begin his career in acting and charity.

"He worked as a campaign manager for Amnesty International and U.N.I.C.E.F. [the United Nations' International Children's Emergency Fund], raising millions of dollars for charity. Following a few years of philanthropic efforts, he moved to Hollywood."
