La Libertad: Where were you born?
Kenneith: Heerlen, The Netherlands.
La Libertad: Where do you currently reside?
Kenneith: Los Angeles, California.
La Libertad: What is/are your occupation(s)?
Kenneith: I am a singer/entertainer/songwriter. Just starting to add the credit of actor under my belt...
La Libertad: What do you love most about your work?
Kenneith: Reaching people's hearts, souls, and minds with the gift of music. It can be life changing for so many people. I know it has been for me.
La Libertad: What talents and hobbies do you have?
Kenneith: I enjoy tennis, bowling, coffee mug collecting; and hanging out at the beach. I am also an avid reader. I love reading the Bible (re-reading it again all the way through for the third time); autobiographies (especially musician or entertainer) and history books about certain geographical locations. Watching Seventies sci-fi television shows is another favorite thing to do; Movie buff for sure. I could just spend a whole Saturday lying on the couch with popcorn and Coca-Cola - movie binging well in the wee hours.
Also enjoy listening to old vinyl records from my childhood. Most recently started taking an interest in photography. I get snap happy with my i-phone and have created some really great shots.
La Libertad: What inspires you?
Kenneith: Hearing success stories of people living their dreams. Seeing people freed from bondages or entrapments of any kind (these include self-imposed or created by circumstances beyond their control).
La Libertad: What is the hardest part of your job(s)?
Kenneith: Good question! Probably the hardest part is just remaining consistent in everything when it comes to being an artist....consistently releasing content; consistently engaging with the fans; consistently staying true to the artistic vision...
La Libertad: What foreign languages, if any, do you read, write, and/or speak?
Kenneith: I am an intermediate Spanish speaker and writer. Very romantic language, though. I would like to learn French, since I found out my last name Perrin is of French-English origin.
La Libertad: Where have you traveled?
Kenneith: All throughout the United States, Germany, Czech Republic; Austria; and Canada. I am going back to Canada in the fall to do some shows. Would like to go to Greece, Italy, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand.
La Libertad: What are your career goals?
Kenneith: [I am] currently in negotiations with a small indie record label, which I'm really excited about signing with. This has been a long time dream of mine, and it is so rewarding to see it is finally happening. I would also like to do more background and acting roles.
I am an attorney, so eventually I would like to create an artist/entertainer consulting business that assists those involved in the arts with intellectual property issues. I think it is important to know how to manage your art and to be aware of how valuable it can be even when you, as the artist, may not recognize the value or worth of your own contributions.
I tend to do entertainment legal work during my down time with music, but lately the music has been in full speed, so I'm having to push the legal activities aside. I like helping with licensing requests, copyright researching, management contracts, etc. because I feel like I'm giving back to the art community in a practical way. But music is first and foremost.
That's where my passion lies, so my career goals will naturally center around that.
La Libertad: What projects are you working on?
Kenneith: Wow! Quite a bit is going on. I just released a new album earlier this year, so I'm starting to tour nationally to promote it. The goal is to have thirty plus shows. I'm well into almost a fourth of those now. I'm undertaking the first steps toward writing my first musical for broadway.
I am also working on a special tribute album of positive music. I recently was introduced to this genre by my professor Chris Fletcher. It's been really incredible because the genre focuses on vocals and the organic feel of music, while combining uplifting and/or introspective lyrics. I'm also writing songs for two new EPs (styles-gospel and rock/soul). Lastly, I've been recording vocals on select tracks for two dance/E.D.M [Electronic Dance Music] producers in France.
I currently attend the Musicians Institute, which has been a great experience thus far. I am singing on demos, co-writing songs for artist showcases, doing background vocals for other up and coming artists, and developing new business ventures with my colleagues. It's always great to work with other fellow creative people because you learn so much.
La Libertad: What upcoming events, if any, do you intend to participate in?
photo by Jason Ginman Photography |
Kenneith: I missed Lynda Carter in concert at the Catalina Jazz Club this past weekend [March 28]. I was looking forward to going, but was on location for my first feature film [Deadly Prank, Kamran Delan, Director, starring Jesse Woodrow], doing background acting work. Had an amazing experience with fellow crew members and actors on set. I am definitely participating in more of those in the future. I would also like to participate in some comedy "improv" [improvisation] shows, visit historical/cultural museums, and serve at some of the local soup kitchens.

Kenneith: Whatever your dreams are, pursue them with passion and heart. Never let anyone discourage you from your calling. You will never please everyone.
It's virtually impossible. Just do you. Pray about all that you do and
commit your plans to the Lord (Proverbs 16:3). Stay encouraged. Your breakthrough is right around the corner!
