Kim Hong: Santa Monica, California
La Libertad: What do you love most about your work?
Kim Hong: Being able to design and paint onto a living, breathing canvas and having full artistic freedom.
La Libertad: Do you have any other talents or hobbies?
Kim Hong: Chinese jumprope, portrait drawing, air hockey, and tennis.
La Libertad: What inspires you?
Kim Hong: Street art, textures, mixed media, and the clandestine environment.
La Libertad: What is the hardest part of your job?
Kim Hong: Watching models remove my work of art at the end of the day.
La Libertad: Do you speak any other languages?
Kim Hong: Chinese, but only a rare dialect called Teochew/Chaozhou.
La Libertad: Where have you traveled?
Kim Hong: All over the world, from Europe to Southeast Asia and South America to Canada. I was lucky enough to have lived in Stuttgart, Guadalajara, Marseilles, London, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.
La Libertad: What are your goals for your career?
Kim Hong: To be THE go-to, in-demand makeup artist for editorial shoots in exotic locations. I'd like to have the freedom to display my creative vision without boundaries and restrictions. I also want to help women discover and embrace their beautiful, distinct features and to celebrate their unique essence.
La Libertad: Any upcoming projects?
Kim Hong: I'll be working on a few fun projects with popular YouTube stars.
