Interview with Cary Farrow IV

Cary Farrow IV is an actor and model living in Los Angeles, California.
La Libertad:  When did you start modeling?

Cary Farrow IV:  Spring 2010
La Libertad:   What got you started as a model?

Cary Farrow IV:  I am obsessed with art in all of its forms. As an artist, I am never content settling into a single medium of expressing myself. I'm always challenging myself to push my boundaries and expand into new fields.

I had been acting for several years and I was looking for new art forms to branch out to. A friend of mine, Edward Wise, whom I love working with creatively, was working on a painted bodyscape series for an art exhibit and he needed models.

He gave me a shot and I loved it! In my acting work, I already had a lot of experience communicating non-verbally and making conscious decisions about creating imagery with my body. Modeling pushed that idea further.

La Libertad:   Who have you really enjoyed working with?

Cary Farrow IV:  As I mentioned, I enjoyed working with Edward Wise. Recently though, I've had a lot of very rewarding shoots with Five Moons (he prefers to use a pseudonym for his photography). He's very professional and so open to collaboration within the shoot. He's not afraid to take risks and that's the trait I admire most in artists.

La Libertad:  How long have you been acting?

Cary Farrow IV:  Since Fall 2007.

La Libertad:   What was your favorite role?

Cary Farrow IV:  My favorite role of all time was Captain Cortez in The Adventures of Captain Cortez and the Tri-Lambda Brigade. It's a revolutionary concept in a revolutionary venue. It's a serialized, sci-fi space comedy, stage play; meaning it features a continuing story arc and a new episode is performed live every month. It's still intermittently running at the Overtime Theater in San Antonio and is definitely worth checking out.

I played Cortez for a year and a half. He became a part of me. Getting the opportunity to be the same character for that long and taking him through such a wide range of experiences and emotions helped me to grow SO much as an actor. It pushed my limits and made me work harder than any other role had.

La Libertad:   Do you speak any other languages?

Cary Farrow IV:  No, but I'm trying to learn Spanish.

La Libertad:  Where have you traveled to?

Cary Farrow IV:  Cozumel, Mexico. But only the touristy parts. I went there as part of a cruise excursion.
once went skiing in Colorado.

La Libertad:  What other talents do you have?

Cary Farrow IV:  IMPROV! I LOVE improvised comedy! It is quite possibly my favorite art form. It's exhilarating and immediately gratifying.

Also dancing. I usually freestyle, but I love swing dancing too!

I'm a writer and I've been expanding on that a lot lately. Writing shorts and sketches.

I'm pretty good at roller skating, dog training, and I used to be pretty good at computer programming.

La Libertad:  Any upcoming projects?

Cary Farrow IV:  Yes! I've just been cast in a principle role in a webseries called The R.H. Diaries. It's filming in May.

I've written several sketches that I intend to film with my room mates soon.

Also, I'm working on a few photo shoots to update my portfolio. Get some new looks.

La Libertad:  What are your goals for your career?

Cary Farrow IV:  I'd like to really focus on my acting and work on some substantial roles to push my abilities and start to get noticed. Then I can book a series regular on a TV show or get a good film role. Then, of course, I want to keep building myself up until I'm working on big budget films, spending my life working on meaningful characters and bringing them to life.

I'll always be doing improv too. I love it so much! I'll continue my training at Upright Citizens Brigade and work my way up until I can perform regularly on their stage.
