Justine introduced herself to us as "a published author." She also provided us with a picture of herself and a picture of her "newest book cover," as well as the following answers to our questions:
La Libertad: Where were you born?
Justine: San Diego, California.
La Libertad: Where do you currently reside?
Justine: Central Iowa.
La Libertad: What is your current occupation?
Justine: I’m a volunteer interview editor at the online Christian Magazine; I’m also the owner and instructor at https://know-your-craft.webnode.page/ and I’m the author of three novels and am included in seventeen anthologies – my amazon author page is at:
https://www.amazon.com/Justine-Johnston-Hemmestad/e/B01DHSLN0M%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share
La Libertad: What do you love most about your work?
Justine: Editing, and if I’m writing I love to be inspired, to get my conceptualization down on paper, and then to revise to get the nuances right. I love to learn new things through research and writing, and I love for my work to be read and shared by others.
La Libertad: What talents and hobbies do you have?
Justine: Writing is my talent and my hobby, as well as my work. I also love to read about ancient history and learn. I love to permeate my writing with what I’ve learned.
La Libertad: What inspires you?
Justine: Courage.
La Libertad:
What is the hardest part of your job(s)?
Justine: Stopping.
La Libertad: What foreign languages, if any, do you read, write, and/or speak?
Justine: None fluently, sadly. I took two years of German in college and remember some, and I took Spanish in high school and gratefully still remember quite a lot.
La Libertad: Where have you traveled?
Justine: New York City and Mexico, when I lived in California; and I’ve lived in various southern states a child. I also went to Hawaii when I was little, and my mother was a flight attendant.
La Libertad: What are your career goals?
Justine: I would love my work to be read by many, and to inspire and mentor other people.
La Libertad: What projects are you working on?
Justine: I’m currently writing a novel that takes place in colonial America. I’m also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, so there’s a lot of interest in that time period and location for me.
La Libertad: What upcoming events, if any, do you intend to participate in?
Justine: I’m the chaplain of my central Iowa chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution; also my publisher (Antimony and Elder Lace Press) is donating partial profits of my newest novel, Macbeth’s Spinners, to Laughing at my Nightmare, a nonprofit organization that benefits SMA. I sustained a brain injury at 19 (my story is in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries) and I identify with Shane’s thoughts and attitude toward disability.

Justine: My newest novel, Macbeth’s Spinners, is set in 11th Century Scotland, as three ancient Greek Fates are transformed into a single Scottish witch to help the warlord Macbeth fulfill his mission, and escape an age-old enemy. Macbeth’s Spinners is published by Antimony and Elder Lace Press, and a description of it is on their blog at https://aelpress.com/index.php/2022/08/31/macbeths-spinners-cover-reveal/ Macbeth's Spinners is available for pre-order on the Antimony and Elder Lace Press store at https://aelpress.com/index.php/store/
