 This interview is with Jonathan White, the director of Museum of Living Art, which will be playing April 12th though 14th. Jonathan White: I wanted to direct ever since high school. My high school had an extensive technical theatre program. Afterwards I ended up studying Video Production and later used my knowledge in both areas for a wide range independent projects from Shorts, Documentaries and Commercial Specs to Music Videos and Sketches. | La Libertad: What inspires you? Jonathan White: Emotions... Seeing art in any form and trying to recognize the intent and emotions put into it, and the emotions and feelings that are felt from it, including my own. Making those connections and relating to them are what I feed off of creatively. |
La Libertad: What do you love most about your work?
Jonathan White: Taking words and showing my vision of what those words mean. There's power in that, I feel like everyone or most artist fall in love with that power.
La Libertad: What is the hardest part of your job?
Jonathan White: Prepping... And being responsible for how a project turns out. Good or Bad. It definitely takes team effort on all projects, but a lot of times it will fall on the Director. But I'm ok with that. I think all directors should be. I guess that's also one reason why I love my job.
La Libertad: Do you speak any other languages?
Jonathan White: Other than English? Art! J/K that was corny!
La Libertad: Where have you traveled?
Jonathan White: Here and there, Been to Trinidad, parts of Mexico and have traveled ALL over the US. I walked from L.A. to New York in fact. But that's a whole other story....
La Libertad: Do you have any current projects?
Jonathan White: Yes, The Museum of Living Art
La Libertad: Any upcoming projects?
Jonathan White: Eventually taking #MOLA on the road... Also working on a couple of Shorts to be submitted to festivals within the next year.
