Brandi Bregman is a Los Angeles, Calfornia based fashion designer.
La Libertad: Have you always had an interest in fashion?
Brandi Bregman: Yes! I feel in love with a still frame campaign when I was allowed to buy
my first Seventeen Magazine! I started as a stylist to my friends, mostly
males, in high school; I am very interested in the structure of fashion,
and men's clothing will give it to you every time.
La Libertad: When did you first start designing?
Brandi Bregman: I never pictured myself as a designer. I love an image or a fantasy, if
you will; however, I found myself in a location that could not provide
me with any retail option. It was in the beautiful state of Colorado,
in my not so beautiful physics class, that I sketched my first look. I
called her Jenna and she now is framed on my studio wall.
La Libertad: Do you have any other talents or hobbies?
Brandi Bregman: I actually consider my designing to be both my talent and my hobby. I went
to school to be a neurosurgeon, so I still spend some Friday nights
reading some of the newest published research on the topic. Designing was
the one thing that I had so that I wouldn't spend every waking moment
studying for exams.
La Libertad: What inspires you?
Brandi Bregman: My environment: mountains, beaches, the midwest. I live the most
inspirational life, and I tend to find myself in situations that could
never happen to anyone else in the world. I have been exposed to some of
the most beautiful environments that this world has to offer, and I feel
that I must share it so everyone can enjoy.
La Libertad: What do you love most about your work?
Brandi Bregman: My work is made from the Earth and in return will have very little impact
on its' maker. I create with eco-friendly materials, produced and
manufactured in the USA. This is the most important aspect to my designs.
La Libertad: What is the hardest part of your job?
Brandi Bregman: Educating people on the benefits of being environmentally conscious with
your clothing decisions. With stores like Target and H&M, people tend to
want to spend less without fully understanding where the clothes come from
and where they will be going once their "shelf life" is through. I
sometimes feel like a sign holder on Hollywood and Highland that everyone
just turns a blind eye to.
La Libertad: What are your goals for your career?
Brandi Bregman: I will own a successful boutique that thrives on the better future of our
Earth. I wouldn't mind teaching a few people the value of a looking
elegant along the way!
