Congressmen, one of the wise men, murderers,
and even Mr. Monopoly.
James lived and worked in Virgina and surrounding states before moving to southern
California in 2010.
The son of Nancy Green, a regionally famous artist, and the late Leslie Green, James was
born and raised in sounthern Virginia.
La Libertad: When did you first start acting?
James: I started acting in the year Two Thousand Two, in a film called Iron-Jawed Angels, starring Hillary Swank, and I actually did have a very small role, and it's called "the White House Drunk," I play the drunk out in the street in front of the White House. And I had a right many direct scenes with Hillary Swank, and a lot of them were fall down... We got to see her, and we had a scene with somebody you know, whoever that actress is; she's just so beautiful, and I had a direct scene, and they would scream at me to get a look out of her, so she could look scared, and it was a lot of fun. And it kind of got me so I thought, "Well, man, I'd like to be in acting, I believe. So that started me off in film, and I continued on working on films. So I finally came to Hollywood and began working on films and making commercials.
La Libertad: What was your favorite role?
James: I think one of my favorite roles was in Zombie Apocalypse 2012, starring Ving Rhames, and everybody was so nice. So we went out and filmed, and I had my whole family there, and Libertad Green and Frances Green and William Vaughan, and actually, when we were filming, I didn't know that was going to start the film... They told me to go out behind a building, and come out, so I didn't come out right towards them, so I figured I was going to be a zombie coming out, and I wouldn't know where I was atso I was the third zombie out. And a girl said, "Guys, guys, somebody's coming to get us!" -- one of the stars... And I come out, the third zombie, and I looked like I didn't know what was going on, so it really looked real, and then we had my son-in-law - had his head split open with a [baseball] bat. They attacked Ving Rhames, and his crew came in and attacked us, and I think that was one of the best movies I've been in, and I see myself all over the movie; it's pretty cool.
La Libertad: What other talents do you have?
James: Well, right now, while I'm doing this interview, I just finished ten paintings. I painted a scene; it's a beach scene, and it's beautiful. It's got a fence going down by the beach, and it's got grass, and it's kind of a hill beach, and an ocean. And it's so beautiful, it sells real well. So it effects my income a lot, and so that's... I painted ten paintings today. I'm trying to raise enough money to return to return to Hollywood; I'm visiting here in Virginia, so what happened is, I'm raising money to return to Hollywood, so I painted ten at one time, so it comes in pretty good, 'cause the brush is already a certain color, and you go ahead and paint the sky, and then the ocean, and kind of a beige, sandy beach, and then you put in the grass and the fence, and it's a lot of fun. And also, I make artifacts - points for arrow heads - that type of thing. I am carving a head out of wood now. I'm making a wind vane, to look it like a two hundred year old wind vane.

La Libertad: You're also a musician, correct?
James: Oh, yeah. Sorry, I'm definitely a musician. I've been playing the guitar for years. I even played yesterday. I sell at the flea market, and a crowd would gather around my playing, 'cause I'd play like "La Bamba." And I don't sing real well, but I always end up singing at the flea market. And at old Hollywood Boulevard, and a few bars, and I really enjoy playing. And I actually was left-handed, so I'm playing right-handed, and I had a hard time starting playing, so I actually ended up playing lots of different styles, so then I ended up trying to play a lot of different styles. And it's real interesting what I can play from Santana. What do you call it? It's been a hot one. I kind of play by ear, so everything's real smooth and nice.
La Libertad: You have traveled a lot. What States have you been to?
James: I've been to about all the States in the United States, except the very north ones, and I traveled as a salesman. My whole family traveled on the road for years. And we like traveled in a van, and had a little factory in the fan, and sold toys and that type of thing. We had twelve volt power and had a lot of fun. We sold all kinds of... And even the children sold some stuff.
North Carolina is one of my favorite States, and I like California and Texas, and just anywhere. As long as my family is with me, it's home.
La Libertad: You also model. Who have you modeled for?
James: Well, it's real strange. I tell some of my friends I've modeled, and they have a strange look on their face. I do a lot of modeling. My daughter was actually modeling for Digital Days for Popular Photography magazine. And [the casting director] wanted to know who was going to drive her, and I got to talking to the man, and he said, "Well, get five outfits." So, all night, we made five outfits for me to wear, to model, and I actually modeled, too. I really enjoyed it; I got to model with my daughter.
I played the tambourine for her while she danced, and they took pictures and all, and they turned out really good.
And it turned out, I played a guitar, and one of my outfits was a guitar rock star, and I still use the picture to this day, and it's real striking. And we really enjoyed it; what could be better than modeling with your daughter?
And when we moved to Hollywood, actually, the same person from Digital Days, an old gentleman back in North Carolina that heard me, heard me again. And I had to come up with five more outfits. And I worked out there [in Hollywood]. Andd so that was the third year I worked in a row. I just really enjoyed that.
And we do a lot of different modeling. I just did modeling for a jewelry company, for a national commercial. I just stood there to represent the company. We just did a lot of modeling. It's a lot of fun.

La Libertad: Who have you enjoyed working with?
James: I enjoyed working with my daughter most of all. To work with your family... When we go in, everybody says, "Your whole family's here!" It's very common we go in, and we'll all work together. And we'll be talking, and they'll ask how we know each other, and we'll tell them we're family. And sometimes they'll pair us; they don't even know we're together, and they'll pair us together, or they'll pair us with separate people. and it's real funny when they see us with a camera, and so, it's kind of cute, and all of us are pretty striking people, so they always look like they don't know what's going on, but they always look like they put me up front a lot. And one of the most fun things is acting with my daughter, Libertad, which I play her father commonly in television, such as "The Exorcist," or something like that [The History Channel's "Exorcism: Driving Out the Devil"].
La Libertad: What are your goals for your career?
James: Well, I realize I might only be a small role actor for the rest of my life, but I believe I'm thinking about producing a pilot, you know, and maybe some type of pilot, you know, and maybe have my family act in that, and see if we can get something more big like that, and have it picked up. At least I'll make the pilot for it, I think.
I've already started writing it, and dude told me the trickiest thing is to act serious, and then you have to be really funny, but you have to act serious to be funny, or it comes off cheesy when you just act silly, or it just comes off cheesy, so it's a real art, just to have the ability to come off funny, so I keep working on it.
Thank you very much.
